On April 25th ontoprise has released the latest version of SMW+. The release 1.7.0 of the enterprise wiki comes with interesting new features and enhancements. The WYSIWYG editor has been improved, it is now easier to create texts with semantic annotations. The faceted search works faster and more convenient. With the filtering options within tabular forms you'll have more opportunities than ever to present, analyze and change data.
NYCFacets has won the NYC BigApps contest performing great as the overall winner. We congratulate Joel Natividad and Sami Baig and we are really happy about the job they did - and we are happy and proud about them using SMW+.
Introducing Markus Nitsche - Usability Engineer
We are happy to welcome to the SMW+ team Markus Nitsche. He has successfully completed his studies in Information Engineering with focus on Interactive systems at the University Konstanz. Markus supports us with competently establishing and implementing the usability requirements of SMW+.
You now have full access to the new and improved features of the current SMW+ release 1.6.0 even in the cloud. We have created different images (AMIs) for the Amazon Elastic Computing Cloud (EC2) for the different regions to fit all customers' needs. Note: The AMIs contain the latest fixes by the SMW+ team.

Launching the SMW+ Ambassador Program
Today we are rolling out the SMW+ ambassador program. Many people make great contributions to SMW+, be it code, documentation, support, artwork or something else. We'd like to recognize some of them for their great work with the ambassador program.

Bugfix release 1.5.6-1 of SMW+ and the Halo extension now available
On September 14th, the Halo team released SMW+ 1.5.6-1. It is a bugfix release which contains a bunch of compatibility updates and bug fixes as well as some feature improvements for release 1.5.6. We recommend the update for all SMW+ users since the touch up affects core elements like the WYSIWYG extension, the Ontology Browser and administration issues.
New example: how to import and re-use an external ontology
We have published a new, easy-to-follow example use of SMW+ that gives details on how you can download an ontology from the web and import it into SMW+. This ontology is then made use of in combination with your own ontological elements in order to save time and avoid errors.

With the bugfix release SMW+ 1.5.3 b36 we have fixed some issues and included fixes that have been committed to the release branch since the initial release in April.

Today, the Halo team has released SMW+_1.5.2_b268, as the release number implies, it is a bugfix release which contains all the compatibility updates and bug fixes for the last 2 months since the last release of 23.12.10.

Upcoming Linked Data Extension for SMW+ presented at ISWC 2010
The upcoming Linked Data Extension ("LDE") for SMW+ was presented at the International Semantic Web Conference 2010 in Shanghai. The extension is being built to combine unified querying, navigation and visualization through large collections of data sources with wiki-style collaboration, crowdsourcing and commentary on the chosen data sets.
Try out the new "Automatic Semantic Forms"-extension
The ontoprise team gives a preview of the new extension named: "Automatic Semantic Forms"-Extension. This extension, which is installed on top of the "Semantic Forms"-Extension, automatically generates forms from the Wiki's ontology and keeps both always in sync. This allows non-Wikitext-programmers to make efficient use semantic forms in their Wiki.

Bugfix Release of Triple store connector available
We have published a new release of the Triple store connector (build 700). This release covers a number of bug-fixes. Since this is a bug-fix release the main version number (1.5.1) is kept; only the build number has changed.
Features/SMW+ release 1.5.1 bugfix
We have published a new release of SMW+/Halo 1.5.1 (build 1049). This release covers a number of bugfixes. We also increased the performance of SMW+ by tweaking some caching mechanisms. Since this is a bugfix release the main version number is kept; only the built number/patch level numbers were changed.

We have noticed that a lot of Halo users are eagerly awaiting each new release to get the new features and fixes it provides. So in order to get it to you faster we will do two things for the release of 1.5.1:

A while ago we have asked the community to inspect and rate our upcoming features for Halo/SMW+ in 2010. Meanwhile we have evaluated the survey and published the results.
JavaScript problems that appeared with active Prototype.js framework are solved
We can happily announce that the problem with (Semantic) Maps not working in combination with an extension using the Prototyp.js library (esp. the Halo extension) has been found and fixed now.
New SMW+ 1.5.0 and Halo 1.5.0 released
This release of the Halo extension fixes a number of bugs and establishes full compatibility with Semantic MediaWiki version 1.5.0 and MediaWiki versions 1.15.2 and 1.15.3. We have extended the bundle of extensions with a scriptmanager, which ensures that needed Java Script libraries are only loaded once. Furthermore the TreeView can now be generated with data which comes from the triple store.
