WYSIWYG extension: What you see is what you get!

Not everybody loves coding since not everybody is a programmer. And even though MediaWiki coding is far away from software engineering, probably no one finds it exhilarating to transfer documents or Excel sheets by hand into MediaWiki language. If you (too) have no desire (and no time) to do this, check out the WYSIWYG extension.

With this extension you can copy and paste nearly everything into your Wiki without even think about it. Insert tables, images, formatting stuff like enumerations, font style, headings etc. or links into an article - done. Find and replace words and get rid of typing errors thanks to the real time spell-checker.

Note: the WYSIWYG extension is already included in every SMW+ installation.

Features of the WYSIWYG extension

  • Import anything you like per copy and paste without postprocessing
  • Don`t bother training periods but start working immediately with the known Word-like toolbar arrangement
  • Use all the common buttons for word and text formatting, inserting images, tables, links or special characters and upload a wide range of media files
  • Enter new text without typing errors thanks to the real time spell-checker
  • Use undo/redo functions and find and replace words and characters in your article
  • Start SMW+ specific functions like the Semantic Toolbar, the Query Interface or the template picker
  • Embed Web services, wiki magicwords and use the WYSIWYG extension even in Semantic Forms
  • Select actions directly from context menus
